Exploring the Majestic Regent Seven Seas Explorer
Ahoy there, luxury adventure seekers!
Setting sail from Vancouver to Whittier, Alaska on the breathtaking Regent Seven Seas Explorer was nothing short of magical. From September 4th through September 11th of 2024, I soaked in every luxurious detail this fantastic journey offered.
The Ship: Luxury at Sea
Right from the start, I was surrounded by elegance. The decor on the Regent Seven Seas Explorer is a perfect blend of luxury and comfort, making every corner of the ship feel like home. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, adding a personal touch to the entire experience. With a total of 750 guests on the ship you won't feel cramped or rushed.
My Suite: A Cozy Retreat
I stayed in cabin number 906, a superior suite. Fun fact: every cabin on this ship is a suite with a balcony! My initial view was a narrow hallway with hooks for jackets. The bathroom was splendid, featuring:
- A deep soaker bathtub with marble flooring.
- A walk-in shower with perfect water pressure and temperature.
- Double sinks with ample counter space and storage underneath.
- Lights in the mirrors adding that extra touch of elegance.
The room itself had two beds (since I was sharing with a fellow traveler) that can be pushed together for a single bed, a desk area, a cozy couch, a large flat-screen TV on a swivel, and a spacious balcony with a table and chairs.
Onboard Experience: Endless Entertainment
Upon boarding, we were welcomed with champagne and a guided tour of the ship. Our journey through the Inside Passage, despite the fog, was nothing short of captivating. The cruise offered a range of activities:
- A spa treatment that left my skin feeling soft and rejuvenated.
- The observation lounge for pre-dinner cocktails with amazing company.
- Deck 11 with shuffleboard, mini-golf, pickleball, Boncce Ball and a walking track.
- An onboard casino for those who love a little gambling (though I personally didn't partake).
- Evening shows, which my roommate enjoyed immensely!
- A culinary arts kitchen offering fun and educational classes (though I missed out on these).
Land Excursions: Adventures and Discoveries
Our port days were filled with explorations:
- Ketchikan: The Misty Fjords cruise excursion was mesmerizing despite the fog.
- Juneau: Gold panning was a unique and enjoyable experience.
- Skagway: A musher’s camp visit with adorable puppies and gold panning, yielding $23 worth of gold.
- Icy Strait Point: A raw and pristine port with fascinating gondola rides and the world’s longest non-stop zip line (which I’ll brave next time).
- Hubbard Glacier: An unforgettable close encounter with calving glaciers, narrated by an onboard naturalist.
From soaking in the breathtaking sceneries to relaxing in the luxurious amenities of the ship, my adventure on the Regent Seven Seas Explorer was the epitome of a dream cruise. Each day was a new page in my travel diary, and I can’t wait for my next sailing!
